Tax Consultant in Thane - Because a Wrong Filing Costs More Than the Tax Itself
Thane has changed a lot in the last ten years. More businesses, more turnover, more complexity. And with that comes more compliance – income tax, GST, TDS, and advance tax. Each one has its own deadline, its own form, its own consequence for getting it wrong.
Most business owners find out about a mistake only after the notice arrives.
S. Panicker & Associates has been working as a tax consultant in Thane and across the Mumbai region for over 12 years. We handle income tax, GST, TDS, and everything in between – for traders, manufacturers, freelancers, salaried individuals, and business owners of all sizes. Whatever your tax situation looks like right now, we have seen something like it before.

What Our Tax Consultant in Thane Handles for You
Tax is not just one thing. It is income tax, GST, and TDS, and advance tax – all running at the same time, all with different deadlines. Missing any one of them has consequences.
Here is what we manage:
- Income Tax Return Filing – Individuals, salaried employees, freelancers, proprietors, companies. Filed correctly, not just filed.
- GST Return Filing – GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and annual returns. Every month, on time.
- TDS Compliance – Deductions calculated right, challans paid, quarterly returns filed.
- Advance Tax Calculation – So you are not hit with interest at the end of the year for underpayment.
- Income Tax Notice Handling – Scrutiny notice, demand notice, defective return – we read it, respond to it, and deal with the department.
- Tax Audit – Mandatory if turnover crosses the threshold. Done properly, filed before the deadline.
- Tax Planning – Legitimate ways to reduce your liability before the financial year closes.
One tax consultant in Thane handling all of this means you are not running between three different people every quarter.
Why Thane Business Owners Keep Calling Us Back
There is no shortage of tax consultants Thane. The problem is finding one who is actually reachable when something goes wrong – not just during onboarding.
We have been doing this for 12 years. We have handled advance tax miscalculations, responded to scrutiny notices, fixed TDS mismatches, and cleaned up two-year-old backlogs. None of it is new to us.
What our Thane clients consistently tell us:
- We pick up the phone – even in March when everyone else is swamped
- We explain what is happening in plain language – no jargon, no confusion
- We tell you what it will cost before starting – no surprise bills later
- We remind you before deadlines – not after the penalty is applied
- We treat small businesses with the same attention as big ones
A tax consultant in Thane should make your compliance feel manageable, not overwhelming. That is what we try to do every day. Many businesses that come to us for company registration in Thane continue working with us afterward for tax filing, GST, and annual compliance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What is the last date to file an income tax return in India?
For individuals and non-audit cases, the due date is 31st July of the assessment year. For businesses requiring a tax audit, it is 31st October. If you miss these, you can still file a belated return until 31st December – but late fees and interest apply. After 31st December, you need a condonation of delay, which is a separate process altogether.
Q2. What happens if I do not file my income tax return on time?
Late fee of ₹1,000 if income is below ₹5 lakhs, and ₹5,000 if it is above. On top of that, interest at 1% per month on unpaid tax under Section 234A. If you have a tax refund pending, the refund gets delayed too. And if the department picks your case for scrutiny, not having filed on time makes things worse.
Q3. I received an income tax notice - what does it mean and what should I do?
Depends on which section it is under. Section 143(1) is usually just a mismatch in your return – often fixable. Section 143(2) means your case has been picked for scrutiny. Section 148 means the department thinks income was not declared. Each one needs a different response, within a specific time limit. Do not ignore any notice – even a 143(1). If you are not sure what it is asking, hand it to a tax consultant immediately.
Q4. How much tax do I have to pay if I am a freelancer or self-employed in Thane?
Your income is taxed as business income under the head “Profits and Gains from Business or Profession.” You can claim deductions for expenses related to your work – internet, equipment, travel, etc. If your turnover is under ₹75 lakhs and receipts are mostly digital, you can use the presumptive taxation scheme under Section 44ADA and declare 50% of receipts as income. A tax consultant can help you figure out which route saves more tax legally.
Q5. What is advance tax, and do I need to pay it?
If your total tax liability for the year crosses ₹10,000, you are required to pay advance tax in four instalments – June, September, December, and March. Missing or underpaying these instalments means interest under Section 234B and 234C. Salaried individuals whose TDS is being deducted properly usually do not need to worry about this. But if you have business income, rental income, or capital gains, advance tax almost always applies.
